Key Stage 4 Results 2017
Many years of hard work and dedication came to a successful fruition for our Year 11 students last Thursday as they collected their GCSE results. After a challenging year we were delighted and incredibly proud to share the moment where the students were rewarded for all their hard work.
We were particularly impressed with the successes in the new tougher English and Maths qualifications with many students exceeding their own expectations and with 10 students achieving the new top Grade 9 in Maths and 8 in English. The number of students passing Maths shot up 14%, with English also rapidly increasing by 9%.
Although delighted with all the successes we saw, it was pleasing to see a high proportion of students achieving top grades in Languages and the Sciences along with Geography, History and RE. As a Performing Arts school we again had excellent results in Art, Dance, Music and Music Technology.
Students, their teachers and families can be incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication which have led to these outcomes, through the successful partnership of school, parent and most important of all the students.
We have listed a few of our high achievers below, but all of our students deserve congratulations for the rigour of their approach and their hard work in securing grades which will allow them to move on to the next stage of their education with confidence and experience of success.
We were also really pleased to see our students who are not native English speakers do very well in achieving their English as a Second Language GCSE, the first time we have offered this qualification.
As this is the end of these students’ school journey we would like to take the opportunity to wish them all good luck in whatever they are moving on to doing next year and look forward to welcoming many of them back to our very successful joint Sixth Form SFH6.
