Mr Davey’s squad opened their season with a London Cup tie away to Eastbury. In spite of having two efforts cleared off the line, the match remained goalless and the tie was ultimately won by Eastbury in a penalty shoot-out 3-2.
In the National Cup, it was the turn of Forest Hill to win a penalty shoot-out by 3-2 against Petchey Academy after the tie had ended 3-3.
Mr Hollidge’s squad have had just the one fixture to date, beating Glenthorne High School 4-1 in the National Cup with an impressive display.
Mr Griffith’s Year 9 squad has started the year with a victory and a defeat. They knocked Bacons College out of the London Cup 4-2 but unfortunately went out of the National Cup to Roedean Valley by the same score line. The squad progressed to the next round of the Inner London Cup with a bye.
Mr Hollidge’s Year 10 squad made the short trip to Deptford for their first round Blackheath Cup tie. In spite of going behind in the first half, Forest Hill battled back to win 2-1 in what turned out to be a fiercely contested match.
Mr Taylor’s squad made the long trip to St. Aloysius for their London Cup preliminary round tie. Having gone behind in the first half, Forest Hill fought back to level the scores and were unfortunate not to win the match in normal time. As was the case in their Year 10 final a few months ago, the Forest Hill boys held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to win 6-5 and progress to round one and a home tie against Cardinal Pole.
Six days later, the squad played Archbishop Tenison’s in the first round of the Inner London Cup and put on an impressive display to win 6-1 and earn an away tie against Bacon’s College.
