Year 7 Admissions 2020
Welcome to Forest Hill School! We realise that this is a crucial time for Year 6 pupils who will be transitioning to secondary school in September and we are sorry that we cannot welcome you in person at present. However, we can assure you that we will do everything we can – from a distance – to ensure that our new Year 7 students have a smooth transition to Forest Hill School this September 2020.
This webpage has been set up as a dedicated information resource for all our new families and we hope that it will go some way towards reducing any anxiety and nervousness that you may be experiencing as the new academic year approaches. We promise you there is nothing to worry about. Please enjoy the summer and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome Presentation, 6 May 2020
In the absence of our planned Welcome Evening on 5 May 2020, we have provided a video of the presentation for you to view at home.
At the Welcome Evening, we would normally hand out copies of two booklets: Information for New Parents and A Guide to Year 7 (for students). Please find PDFs of these booklets below for you to read at home.
We hope that these booklets will provide all the information you require at this stage – from where to buy school uniform and which extracurricular clubs are on offer to who is the Head of Year 7 and how we measure students’ progress.

NB The Information for Parents and Carers booklet was updated on 8 June 2020 to include the new House names and revised dates for student interviews.
Be Awesome, Go Big is an information package designed to help Year 6 pupils (and their parents) transition into Year 7 – offering motivational, helpful and reassuring resources to help pupils feel ready and equipped for the journey ahead.
Resources for Year 6 Pupils – The lessons are based on the books You Are Awesome by Matthew Syed and Go Big by Matthew Burton. Each session takes pupils through some big ideas to help them on their way to secondary school.
Resources for Parents and Carers – These resources provide information, tips and questions to help parents and carers talk to their child about the transition and help prepare them for starting secondary school.
