Then and Now Workshop 2022

On Thursday 31 March, two members of the Lewisham Then and Now Project visited Forest Hill School to run a workshop for a small group of students in Years 9 and 10 who were keen to explore and discuss what equality means to them and their peers, and their interests and concerns around equality.

Through interactive games and discussions, the workshop was an opportunity for the boys to discuss racism and what we can do as a school and as a borough to improve our anti-racism work.

It was then the boys’ turn to create and deliver an equality workshop of their own with the help of Ms Sparkes. On Thursday 5 May, the group headed to Bonus Pastor school to deliver their workshop to eight other Lewisham secondary schools.

The event was a great way for the students to learn and share their experience and have an impact on equality in the borough. They also had the opportunity to hear from the Young Mayor of Lewisham and offer suggestions about ways in which her budget could be spent. We hope this will also lead to further work with the Young Mayor of Lewisham’s team in the future.

A recording of the event is available to view below.
