The School Day
The catering service at Forest Hill School is provided by Olive Dining, and includes an offering for breakfast, mid-morning break and lunch.
We use a cashless catering system for all food and drink purchases.
At the start of the day, we offer breakfast from 8.00 to 8.25am in the atrium. The menu includes hot items such as bacon rolls and bagels as well as cereals.
Breakfast provides essential nutrients and benefits that can improve a child’s performance at school, which is why free porridge is available for all students at Forest Hill School.
All students have a mid-morning break from 10.50-11.10am (10.45-11.05 on a Monday) when the atrium and snack shacks are open and serving a variety of hot and cold snacks.
At lunchtime, there is a variety of options for students. We offer a full school meal in the atrium at a cost of £2.57 per day (price increase as of September 2022), or the opportunity to purchase a lighter meal from one of our snack shacks located in the school playground.
Due to Covid-19, the menus have been designed to provide food that is simple to produce, quick to serve, and easy to eat/carry. We also need to ensure that there is a guaranteed supply of ingredients.
Families who receive certain benefits may be entitled to Free School Meals.
Themed Lunch Days
Throughout the school year, students will enjoy various themed food days – from Smoothie Day to Taco Tuesday. Click here to view the themed days for the 2022/23 school year.
Students are welcome to bring packed lunches to school which may be eaten outside or in the school atrium.
Please note that we are a nut-free school and that no glass bottles or fizzy drinks are allowed to be brought into school.
In a drive to reduce single-use plastic at school, it will not be possible to buy bottled water at school from 20 February 2023. All students need to bring a refillable water bottle to school every day.
These can be refilled at water stations in the Atrium or from water fountains in the playground.
